When people think of disasters, they generally envision hurricanes, tornados or floods – catastrophic events that devastate communities. In the medical industry, a disaster can be something as small as a failed switch, computer virus or burst pipe. Regardless, a disaster can close your operations, leaving you, your employees, and most importantly, your patients without a place to go. An Emergency Preparedness Plan is an important part of any business risk management program. You need to have a plan in place in case your office or department does not exist tomorrow. Potter-Holden recognizes the importance of an emergency preparedness plan and has enlisted Agility Recovery Solutions to provide us with a turn-key business continuity solution. We highly recommend you do the same. The following are a few steps Agility recommends to begin your business continuity planning: • Determine which staff, materials, procedures and equipment are absolutely necessary to keep the business operating.• Create a contact list for existing critical business contractors, and keep this list in your emergency supply kit and at an off-site location.• Plan what you will do if your building is not accessible.• Review your emergency plans annually, when you hire new employees or when there are changes in how your company functions. To learn more about Agility, click here to view the company’s Interactive Brochure. Call Wendy Gilbert at 404.667.6972 if you have questions about Agility or would like to inquire about membership. |
